ACE AWARDS • March 6/2010

The ACE Awards are tonight – the theme is ‘ACE in Wonderland’.  We’ve entered some work in Outdoor (for the Laugh Shop in Calgary) and Direct Mail (for Alberta Hardwood in Edmonton) and Maryanne will be attending, hoping we win and sort of hoping we don’t win because she will have to accept the award by herself in a huge room filled with our (drunken) peers.  To make the evening even more anxious and awkward, the creative that has the best chance of winning an award is a billboard series based on urination

We can only hope that this does not foreshadow a horrible accident at the podium for Maryanne. But either way, we say ’Yeah Maryanne! We’re rooting for you! ’

Yoga for Haiti at WEM This Sunday

öööööömmm…. öööööömmm….ömg! we helped raise money!

After the Haiti earthquake, we were contacted by  3 l i s s a  – a yogi with a numeral in her email signature – like Prince. Ellisa wanted to put on an event in the Edmonton yoga community to raise funds for Haiti. We thought that was a good idea,  so we donated the creative for the promotional materials. Ellisa pulled together a number of sponsors and the event is taking place this weekend at WEM at the HMV stage.

Donations raised from this  event will go directly to the Canadian Red Cross. Popular instructors from various practices and local studios will lead the afternoon of yoga.

Leanne and Maryanne – two of our more flexible staff members – attended on behalf of the studio. Leanne  and her mother in law, Fiona, raised over $400 in donations for the event.

Date:
Sunday, March 7, 2010
Time:
2:00pm – 5:00pm
Location:
West Edmonton Mall, HMV Stage

And so The Bog begins….

Posted in News with tags , , , on February 23, 2010 by hoknik

Like most organizations, we seem to live in a digital swamp. So much information is passing through Hök Nik that finding a place to share it has been an ongoing problem. The info sits in emails, getting all mossy and stagnant. It gets posted to web sites, and then gets lost.  It doesn’t get shared. It doesn’t get talked about. Hence, the bog idea. We see this as a damp living place that is filled with layers of fetid info.
